More Than $31 Million Awarded to Water Projects in San Diego Region

The San Diego region has been awarded $31.1 million in grant money by the state Department of Water Resources for a variety of projects that will increase local water supplies, decrease water demands, improve water quality, manage stormwater, restore habitat and enhance species.

Water Authority receives two awards for Coachella Canal Lining Project

The Coachella Canal Lining Project, a critical component of the San Diego County Water Authority’s effort to diversify its water supply, has received two distinguished awards recognizing the project for its innovative design and unique construction.

The San Diego Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers selected the CCLP as its Project of the Year out of 32 projects considered by the organization. The CCLP also received an Outstanding Achievement Award from the Western Council of Construction Consumers.

Governor appoints Water Authority board member Bill Knutson to Colorado River Board

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger appointed San Diego County Water Authority board member Bill Knutson to the Colorado River Board of California as the Water Authority's representative on the board.

The Colorado River Board was established in 1937 by state law to protect California's rights and interests in the resources provided by the Colorado River and to represent California in discussions and negotiations regarding the Colorado River and its management. California representatives on the Colorado River Board serve at the pleasure of the governor.

San Diego County Water Authority’s plan for future water reliability wins awards

The San Diego County Water Authority’s Regional Water Facilities Master Plan recently received top honors in two awards competitions. Both the California Association of Environmental Professionals and the San Diego Section of the American Planning Association selected the master plan as the “Outstanding Planning Document” for 2003.

The San Diego County Water Authority received the 2005 Multicultural Heritage Award at the 10th Annual Multicultural Heritage awards luncheon May 19, 2005 at the San Diego Marriott Hotel & Marina. Presented by the San Diego Business Journal and Wells Fargo Bank, the Water Authority received the award for its commitment to assisting small and emerging business enterprises throughout the San Diego region.
