Water Authority Wins National 2019 WaterSense Excellence Award

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency today recognized the San Diego County Water Authority with a 2019 WaterSense Excellence Award for advancing water efficiency through its Qualified Water Efficient Landscape program, known as QWEL. The Water Authority received one of 25 WaterSense awards at the national WaterSmart Innovations Conference in Las Vegas. Marine Corps Air Station Miramar Receives Water Efficiency Award

The San Diego County Water Authority this morning presented its 2019 Water Innovation & Efficiency Award to Marine Corps Air Station Miramar for significantly reducing its overall potable water use through a successful water conservation program and new infrastructure for distributing reclaimed water. Water authority presents xeriscape garden awards at San Diego County Fair

In an effort to acknowledge the benefits and beauty of xeriscape gardening in our semi-arid climate, the San Diego County Water Authority presented awards for winning designs at the San Diego County Fair. On June 14, a total of $1,500 in awards were given to six exhibits that best displayed xeriscape gardening and succulent gardening.äóÂäóÂ

Water Authority provides 16 students with $1,000 scholarships

The San Diego County Water Authority board of directors today formally recognized high school seniors who each received $1,000 scholarships to be applied toward their college level education. The scholarships are one component of the Creating Paths to Partnerships Program, which is an annual outreach event sponsored by the San Diego County Water Authority and its member agencies for the local contracting community.

The Carlsbad Desalination Project was honored Thursday in New York as the “North American Water Deal of the Year” for 2012 by Project Finance, an international trade publication that annually highlights major industry accomplishments around the world.

Water Authority earns credit rating upgrade from Standard & Poor’s

The bond rating for the San Diego County Water Authority was upgraded on May 9 by Standard & Poor's, a rating agency, from its current level of "AA-(minus)" to "AA." Two other rating agencies, Moody's and Fitch affirmed their credit ratings on May 10 regarding Water Revenue Certificates of Participation at levels of "Aa3" and "AA-," respectively. The Moody's rating was also accompanied by a "Stable Outlook" position for the Authority.

Water Authority conservation program named best in Southwest

The U.S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Reclamation, presented the San Diego County Water Authority today with an award of excellence for its residential high-efficiency clothes washer (HEW) voucher program. The HEW program was recognized as the top Water Conservation Field Services Program among four districts in the bureau's Lower Colorado Region. Each year, the bureau names one program among many water conservation projects throughout the Southwest for this award. The award was presented by Bill Steele, manager of the bureau's Southern California area office.

The San Diego County Water Authority this morning presented its 2018 Water Innovation & Efficiency Award to Kyocera for reducing its annual water use by more than 6 million gallons at its San Diego facility, a decrease of nearly 20 percent since 2014. The award marks the Water Authority’s inaugural effort to recognize water-efficiency investments among the region’s top manufacturing companies in conjunction with the Industrial Environmental Association.
