The San Diego County Water Authority’s Board of Directors today adopted a $1.58 billion budget for fiscal years 2018 and 2019, representing a 2 percent increase from the current two-year budget due largely to increasing water supply and treatment costs. Water Authority Recommends $1.5 Billion Budget for Fiscal Years 2016 and 2017

The San Diego County Water Authority’s general manager on Thursday recommended a $1.5 billion budget for fiscal years 2016 and 2017, up 2 percent from the current two-year budget due largely to higher costs for the purchase and treatment of water.

Water Authority Reinstates Water Conservation Rebates for Residents

To help more residents prepare for the start of mandatory water use restrictions in many parts of the region, the San Diego County Water Authority is providing $450,000 to reinstate a water conservation rebate program. The rebates will be available now through June 30 or until funding runs out.

Metropolitan Water District Approves Water Supply Cutbacks, Significant Rate Hike

In response to continuing drought conditions and regulatory restrictions on water supplies from Northern California, water supply deliveries from the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California to the San Diego County Water Authority will be reduced by 13 percent starting July 1.

As a result of actions taken Tuesday by MWD’s board of directors, San Diego County residents and businesses will face mandatory water use restrictions designed to ensure the region does not exceed its water supply allocation from MWD.

Water Authority Seeks Pre-Trial Decision Declaring MWD’s ‘Rate Structure Integrity’ Clause Illegal and Unenforceable

The San Diego County Water Authority on Friday asked a San Francisco Superior Court judge to declare illegal and unenforceable contract language used by the Los Angeles-based Metropolitan Water District of Southern California to punish the Water Authority for challenging the legality of MWD’s water rates. In its motion for summary judgment, the Water Authority is asking Superior Court Judge Curtis E.A. Karnow to rule on the matter before the rest of its case challenging MWD’s 2011-2014 water rates goes to trial December 17. 

Water Authority Increases 2009 Water Rates to Secure Water Supply Reliability

Faced with additional costs sparked by growing water supply challenges, the San Diego County Water Authority Board of Directors today approved an 11.9 percent increase in wholesale treated water rates and charges and a 15.0 percent increase in untreated water rates and charges. The new rates will become effective January 1, 2009.
