The San Diego County Water Authority is here to help with two new sessions of the four-part WaterSmart Landscape Makeover Series starting in March. These free, award-winning and interactive classes teach the steps for successfully converting high-water-use turf areas to WaterSmart landscapes during four classes over consecutive weeks. Water Authority Begins Update of Region’s Long-Term Water Management Strategy

The San Diego County Water Authority is launching the 2015 update of its Urban Water Management Plan, which includes a forecast of water demands and a detailed evaluation of the supplies necessary to meet those demands over at least two decades for both normal and dry conditions.

Federal judge orders massive cut in water supply deliveries from the Bay Delta

Today in Fresno, U. S. District Court Judge Oliver W. Wanger announced a series of severe restrictions on the operations of the massive pumps that supply water from the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta to 25 million Californians (about two-thirds of all Californians), including 3 million residents of San Diego County, to protect threatened fish in the Bay-Delta.

New Balboa Park Upgrades Will Save Millions of Gallons of Water Annually

Balboa Park is taking water-use efficiency to a new level with a collaboration between the Balboa Park Cultural Partnership, the San Diego County Water Authority and San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) that will reduce water use by approximately 2.4 million gallons a year while trimming energy consumption at the same time. The partners funded the installation of 365 high-efficiency water fixtures such as toilets, urinals and flow-control devices on faucets. 2013 San Diego Integrated Regional Water Management Plan Released for Public Review

The latest version of the San Diego Integrated Regional Water Management Plan was released today for public review, a critical step in making the region eligible for $45 million in state grant funding. The IRWM Plan establishes goals for improving the reliability of local water supplies, and protecting and enhancing water quality and natural resources in the county’s 11 watersheds that flow to the Pacific Ocean.

Draft EIRs issued for Mission Trails and Seawater Desalination projects

The San Diego County Water Authority's ongoing effort to diversify its water supply portfolio and ensure reliability took another step forward with the release of two draft environmental impact reports for public comment. The individual reports cover the Water Authority's Mission Trails Project in Mission Trails Regional Park east of Tierrasanta and the Regional Seawater Desalination Project at the Encina Power Station in Carlsbad. Each EIR will be available for public comment for 45 days.äóÂäóÂ
