The results of a recent public opinion survey conducted for the San Diego County Water Authority, shows that many San Diego County residents support the development of local water resources over increasing imported water supplies. Support for local water supplies remains high, even if it is more expensive than increasing imported water supplies.

Solar electric systems capable of producing approximately 2.6 million kilowatt-hours of electricity combined per year are now in operation at three San Diego County Water Authority facilities. The San Diego County Water Authority board of directors today approved a $1.338 billion budget for fiscal years 2006 and 2007 that funds the agency’s operations and capital improvements. Water Authority Hires Public Affairs Representative for Imperial Valley
The San Diego County Water Authority has hired longtime Imperial Valley journalist Darren Simon to serve as its senior public affairs representative in Imperial Valley.
Simon, a reporter for the Imperial Valley Press for 14 years, has spent the past two years covering the Imperial Irrigation District. He will work part time for the Water Authority through the end of the year and begin working full time January 2.
San Diego County Water Authority’s plan for future water reliability wins awards
The San Diego County Water Authority’s Regional Water Facilities Master Plan recently received top honors in two awards competitions. Both the California Association of Environmental Professionals and the San Diego Section of the American Planning Association selected the master plan as the “Outstanding Planning Document” for 2003.
