Water Authority Board Approves $1.65 Billion Budget for Fiscal Years 2010 and 2011
The San Diego County Water Authority Board of Directors today approved a $1.65 billion, two-year budget to fund water purchases, debt service, capital improvements and Water Authority operations from July 1, 2009 through June 30, 2011.
Los Angeles Department of Water & Power Sued for Failing to Release Public Documents
The Los Angeles Department of Water & Power was sued in Los Angeles Superior Court today for failing to release public documents as required by state law. The suit was filed by the San Diego County Water Authority to compel LADWP to comply with the California Public Records Act.

The San Diego County Water Authority is urging residents and businesses to help the region conserve water by turning off their outdoor watering systems and keeping them off. Water Authority officials say residents and businesses that received measurable amounts of rain from this weekend’s storm may be able to keep their landscape watering systems off for several days to a week, especially if cooler temperatures prevail.
Water Authority to Order Water Transfer to Help Reduce Shortage
To lessen the impact of water supply reductions on the San Diego region, the San Diego County Water Authority’s Board of Directors today authorized the general manager to acquire up to 20,000 acre-feet of water under an existing one-year transfer agreement with the Placer County Water Agency (PCWA), in Northern California.
CA Supreme Court denies Water Authority appeal on preferential rights
The San Diego County Water Authority will continue to aggressively pursue a diversified water supply portfolio in light of today’s State Supreme Court ruling denying its appeal on preferential rights. The courts action ends the Water Authority’s legal challenge of the Metropolitan Water District’s antiquated system of water supply allocations that places San Diego’s water reliability in jeopardy in times of water shortages.

Water Authority Receives Bids for Second Phase of San Vicente Dam Raise Project
The nation’s largest dam raise project came one step closer to getting underway today as the San Diego County Water Authority received six construction contract bids for the second phase of the San Vicente Dam Raise project.
The project, which will be built in six phases, will more than double the storage capacity of San Vicente Reservoir by increasing the height of San Vicente Dam by 117 feet. The Water Authority expects to award the contract in April and begin construction by early summer.
