Water- and Money-Saving Plant Fairs Return this Spring

The San Diego County Water Authority and select locations of The Home Depot are again partnering to offer discounts on water-efficient plants ideal for springtime planting through a series of San Diego County Garden Friendly Plant Fairs. Water authority approves $479.9 million budget for fiscal year 2002-2003

The board of directors of the San Diego County Water Authority approved a $479.9 million budget that will allow the Water Authority to continue providing a safe, reliable water supply to the region. Revenues and other funding sources for the fiscal year are expected at $490.8 million. The Water Authority's fiscal year begins July 1.

Water authority revises rate structure

The board of directors of the San Diego County Water Authority approved a new system of rates and charges to fairly allocate the costs of providing water and other services to member agencies. The new rate structure is divided into categories to specifically address the different services supplied to member agencies which buy water from the Authority. It will be effective Jan. 1, 2003.

Nation’s Largest Seawater Desalination Plant Marks One-Year Anniversary

In its first year of operations, the nation’s largest and most technologically advanced seawater desalination plant produced enough high-quality, drought-proof water from the Pacific Ocean to meet approximately 10 percent of the region’s demand. The Claude “Bud” Lewis Carlsbad Desalination Plant quickly generated significant benefits by relieving pressure on imported water supplies, reducing state mandates for emergency conservation measures in March and helping the region pass the state’s stringent water supply “stress test” in June. Mark Weston Elected Chair of Water Authority’s Board of Directors

The San Diego County Water Authority’s Board of Directors today elected new officers to lead the agency’s Board for the next two years, beginning Oct. 1.

Mark Weston, who represents the city of Poway on the Water Authority’s Board, will serve as chair. Mark Muir, representing the San Dieguito Water District, will serve as vice chair. New Secretary Jim Madaffer is a Board representative from the city of San Diego.

Region’s Success Saving Water Continues with Sharp Reduction in April Use

Preliminary data released by the San Diego County Water Authority show that the San Diego region continues to beat the state’s aggregate water savings target, reducing cumulative potable water use 21 percent from June 2015 through April 2016. The savings (compared to 2013) were bolstered by a 23 percent reduction in water use in April, the county’s highest savings rate since September. Under the state’s current regulation, the region’s aggregate cumulative water-savings target is 13 percent – down from 20 percent between June 2015 and February 2016 due to credits for drought-resilient water supplies from the Claude “Bud” Lewis Carlsbad […]

Residents, businesses reminded to save water

The San Diego County Water Authority is reminding residents and businesses countywide to conserve water during the hot summer months.

"We've found that as temperatures rise, so does water use," said James Turner, chairman of the San Diego County Water Authority. "We just want to remind residents and businesses to keep up the water-wise habits that have become a way of life in San Diego County."

Water Authority provides 16 students with $1,000 scholarships

The San Diego County Water Authority board of directors today formally recognized high school seniors who each received $1,000 scholarships to be applied toward their college level education. The scholarships are one component of the Creating Paths to Partnerships Program, which is an annual outreach event sponsored by the San Diego County Water Authority and its member agencies for the local contracting community.
