Water Authority receives 2005 Multi-Cultural Heritage Award

The San Diego County Water Authority received the 2005 Multicultural Heritage Award at the 10th Annual Multicultural Heritage awards luncheon May 19, 2005 at the San Diego Marriott Hotel & Marina. Water Authority, City of San Diego Measuring Interest in Potential Renewable Energy-Supporting Pumped Storage Project

The San Diego County Water Authority and the City of San Diego on Wednesday took a step toward the possibility of helping the region meet its future energy needs through a new pumped storage opportunity at the San Vicente Reservoir site. Water Authority board approves seawater desalination agreement with Carlsbad

The San Diego County Water Authority board of directors today approved an agreement with the city of Carlsbad that defines how the two agencies plan to work together to develop a regional seawater desalination plant at the Encina Power Station in Carlsbad. Last week, the Carlsbad City Council, the Carlsbad Municipal Water District, and the Carlsbad Housing and Redevelopment Commission unanimously approved the agreement.

Metropolitan, Water Authority Join Other Major U.S. Water Agencies to Form New National Climate Alliance

United by the fact that climate change poses a major long-term challenge to delivering high-quality drinking water, the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California and the San Diego County Water Authority joined some the nation’s largest water agencies today in announcing the formation of an unprecedented coalition, the Water Utility Climate Alliance (WUCA). The alliance will work to improve research into the impacts of climate change on water utilities, develop strategies for adapting to climate change and implement tactics to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions.

Water Authority, Solana Center Team Up to Offer Rain Barrel Discounts

The San Diego County Water Authority and its 24 member agencies, in partnership with Solana Center for Environmental Innovation, are encouraging more people to save water this winter – and take advantage of a regional $75 rebate that will be reduced on Jan. 1 – with a special discount on rain barrels. Four agencies sign historic Colorado River deal

After eight years of negotiations, representatives from the San Diego County Water Authority and three water agencies met in Los Angeles today to sign documents required to implement the Quantification Settlement Agreement, an accord that fundamentally changes the way Colorado River water is distributed and used in California. Officials from the San Diego County Water Authority, Imperial Irrigation District, Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, Coachella Valley Water District and state and federal governments signed agreements that execute the landmark agreement.
