Regional, State Awards Recognize Water Authority Outreach

The Water Authority’s regional outreach and education program “Brought to You by Water” was honored with several awards from the San Diego/Imperial Counties Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America in November 2019. The Brought to You platform was designed to expand Water Authority relationships and help stakeholders across the region recognize the importance of safe and reliable water supplies for San Diego County’s economy and quality of life. The Water Authority won Bronze Bernays Awards in the Video/Video Program and Creative Tactics categories for a series of videos featuring local leaders discussing the importance of water to their business or industry. The Brought to You by Water program also won Silver Bernays awards in the Public Service category and the Reputation/Brand Management category. At the same time, Water Authority Public Affairs Director Denise Vedder was honored as the Public Relations Professional of the Year by the PRSA San Diego/Imperial Counties chapter.

In addition, the Association of California Water Agencies named Brought to You by Water one of the top outreach and education programs of 2019, continuing the Water Authority’s history of excellence in public affairs. And, the Water News Network was recognized for the second year in a row by the San Diego Press Club’s Excellence in Journalism Awards.

“Over the past two years, the Water News Network has become a timely and reliable source of news and information about a variety of water issues, projects and programs affecting more than 3.3 million across San Diego County. We’re proud to collaborate with our member agencies on this and other outreach and education efforts about region’s most precious natural resource.”
