Projects Upgrade Kearny Mesa Facility

Due to facility upgrades led by the Administrative Services Department, the Water Authority continued to significantly reduce energy consumption at the Kearny Mesa headquarters in fiscal year 2020. Overall energy use at the Kearny Mesa building was down approximately 10 percent compared to the 2018 baseline in the agency’s business plan. The facilities team also completed several significant facility improvements. In October 2019, the team resealed and restriped the Kearny Mesa parking lot, a maintenance measure that was last performed in 2015. In addition, an important retrofit of the Kearny Mesa building added push buttons to open the main lobby doors, ensuring that the facility meets ADA requirements. The facilities team also installed a kitchen exhaust fan to help prevent cooking odors from traveling throughout the building.
